Rheumentory Arthritis

Are there concerns that are unique to people of color who are facing a chronic condition diagnosis?

Rheumentory Arthritis (RA) is a lifelong autoimmune disease, where the immune system mistakenly attacks the body’s own tissues. Common signs are joint pain and/or swelling. The disease can begin as early as the infant stages and came become worse if untreated.

RA can affect any community but the question asked by columnist Sonya Collins of HealthCentral, is “Are there concerns that are unique to people of color who are facing a chronic condition diagnosis“? I was asked to be on a panel comprised of doctors who specialize in chronic disease diagnoses and working with patients of color. We shared our thoughts on how RA affects people of color.
